Confession of A Facebook “Friend”

RDP SUNDAY: CONCRETE

I have a firm rule. I don’t look at anyone’s Facebook wall on my way to or from work because if I have to see pictures of birds or flowers or golden sunset I will vomit.

And why is that?

Because THIS is what my world looks like when I look outside my window:

Photographer Unknown

I see things like these people are beating the bushes along the railroad tracks with their phones because on this day they were hoping to get pictures of body parts thrown to the side of the tracks when someone was killed by a train,
Before you wonder, there was at least a dozen people that I could see- my camera only grabbed these five.

For the most part my entire commute looks like this. Gritty, gray and gross and I can’t ‘magic think’ myself out of it. In fact, I see it when I close my eyes just before I fall asleep at night.

The reality  is, sometimes my world is not always  full of busted up concrete, broken bodies,  piles of trash, tents or cars or RV’s that homeless people live in or pools of fetid water- sometimes –

someone tries to brighten up the view and I give those people a big gold star for their effort.

I gave up on trying to happy snap my way on Facebook into that world- it’s not for me.

  1. It’s pretty easy for a lot of people to ignore the homeless, or divert themselves away from seeing a reality they don’t want to believe. It’s very sad. The circled people in the picture, are they police or the medical examiner or are they regular people just hoping to get pictures of bloody body parts?

    • I was sitting on the train that day- the people outside the window were looking for body parts to photograph. Some people even brought out lawn chairs so that they could watch the removal. I write horror and suspense and even I thought that was twisted.
