I didn’t put my tree up until Christmas morning because until Christmas morning I didn’t feel like putting it up- and it was a new tree too!
Despite the fact I wasn’t into the holiday this year it turned out to be a nice day-my family came over, my turkey was roasted to perfection and my family gave me some great gifts.
We played games and I won some cool prizes ( actually we all won neat prizes ).
That night when me and Hamish went for a walk, my neighbors six year old daughter ( they have regular playdates at the dog park ) popped out from behind a car and yelled “roarrrr” right into Hamish’s face and took off. Hamish went after her and they spent about five minutes running in circles – laughing and having a great time.
It was sweet because the only thing that can run faster then Hamish is a racing dog jacked up on speed and it was obvious he wasn’t tying to catch up with her. He didn’t even run. He sort of bunny hopped after her. He just wanted to be with her, having fun-even if he had to slow down to do it.
Sometimes Christmas isn’t the best day of the year and for different reasons it can be a sad one.
But sometimes in all of that, little moments light up what can be a pretty dark time.
