I like being  around people who enjoy telling stories about their dogs and cats and the funny things that happened to them two hours or twenty years ago.

I like being around people who read from actual books when they’re riding the train or the bus or flying on an airplane or sitting on a park bench.

I like people who can cook or can’t cook and the interesting stories they share about the most imperfect meal they ever ate. I like it most of all when they don’t whip out their camera and show me a picture of that sorry, yet entertaining,  old meal.

Above it all, I like being around people who know how and when it is time to say

‘good bye’.
