It was a small Funeral, there was a woman in black mourning clothes, the grave diggers, the Funeral Director and her receptionist and of course the Minister at the graveside.
The womn clutched a bunch of flowers at her chest and the top of her face was covered with a small black veil. Her hands were covered with soft grey leather gloves. The staff were solemn faced.
Before the Minister had a chance to open his bible the woman lifted her veil and said, ” He was not a good man. You realize that don’t you? He was executed by the State. He burned people alive. For fun.”
The Funeral Home staff had heard worse in their day.
So had the Minister.
” It’s up to God. ” The Minister said. ” His Soul will stand in judgment for what he did. We’re not here to judge him. ”
” God has nothing to do with this.”
The Minister shot the Funeral Director a nasty look, why didn’t she tell him that the Family weren’t religious?
” His soul isn’t going anywhere. Not without my say so.” The woman slammed the flowers down onto the top of the casket. She ripped the hat veil from her head and pulled the gloves from her hands. She waved her pearly white hoofs at their faces. ” It’s mine damn it. It’s MINE!”
