WP Prompt: What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?

Back in 1988 I went over to my Mom and Dad’s to look for snacks or probably use their washer and dryer.
When I walked in, my Mom was nearly in tears. I asked her what was wrong and she said that ‘her Bobsled team’ had crashed and were not going to place in the Olympics.
I was puzzled. If my Mom had been a drinker I could have chalked her talk about Bobsled racing to wine or something, but I was really confused. Olympics? Since when did she care about the Olympics, let along bobsled teams?
I said I was sorry her team was out and then I went to her kitchen in search of sustenance, because even though I was about 23 and had been living on my own for few years, I hadn’t got the art of shopping for groceries down yet.
I went back to my place (after doing my laundry ) and turned on the tv and then I saw the news that the Jamaican Bobsled had crashed and were out of the running for ‘the Gold’.
It took me a moment. Jamaica had a Bobsled team and my Mom was pulling for them?
My Mom’s family is from Hawaii and I know this much about living in the tropics- nobody ice skates, sleds or builds snowmen in places like Hawaii or Jamaica. But really? A Bobsled team.
Well. Why not I thought. Why the heck not.
You need to know this about my Mom. If she backs a team, she is all in. Back when the Seattle Mariners were not exactly a stellar team and you could buy their swag in bulk or free tickets to t heir game with a purchase of your favorite burger or soft drink- she was a hardcore fan. She got teased, she got ribbed and in the end LOL she got to claim to be a real fan who stuck with the team through thick and thin and the ‘new fans’ had zero cred it her opinion,
I’m not sure how the Jamaican Bobsled team showed up on her radar but she was on their team 1000% and in case you’re curious- she was exactly crazy about the movie. Don’t ask me why.
My Mom still follows the Jamaican Bobsled Team. She loves that team.
I haven’t asked her why. I feel like it would spoil the mystery. But I have to admit, when the Winter Games roll around now I google
Jamaica Bobsled Team.
