When someone tells you to stick to the marked roads because they’re safe,

when your friends send you a messages because they’ve heard you’re going to

hike one of trails where people seem to evaporate

like a cold clammy fog that creeps along cemetery grounds

at night

when the first warm rays of the morning Sun

touches the Earth.

 They say and they will beg you to promise that

no matter what you see or hear ahead of you or behind you

you WILL stay on the path.

I say, pretend like  you never got the message, you’ll have more fun that way

 you’re bound to make some new and interesting friends along the way and who knows

maybe they’ll even have you for dinner:
