The Goodnight Kiss

” Our true love will never die ” he promised  her in a second of passion

his hands gently cradling her face

his dark eyes swallowed her body and soul.

She gave her flesh, her bone, the air in her lungs to him, with cool gentle  sigh

that became a shiver racing down her spine.

She was a feast. She was delicious.

Then. Bliss.

She reached out for him.

Her touch  felt like  a whisper

against his skin

as she took his hands in hers

and

kissed him gently on his practiced,

well used mouth.

She looked up and smiled

she parted her lips

pressed her teeth

quietly

against the side of his neck

and bit down.

When she was done with her eternal goodnight kiss,

she pulled her head away and she asked his empty flat eyes

” Want to bet? ”

My Dark Companion

Rendered helpless by a  smile, a moment of conversation here and there rehearsed words practiced for lost years wormed their way into my ears

Undone by chaos enveloped in sweet promises sealed with a kiss that tasted like bitter chocolate, I hate chocolate sweet or not but I swallowed each drop, each buss hungrily

Ended in dust, witnessed by rats brought back to my own darkness by the promise of my Cacodemon, my constant companion now.

When Worlds Collide

Photo A.M. Moscoso

When we are out walking and Hamish sees one of the dogs he likes to play with, he gets excited. He jumps around a bit and will stare at me over his shoulder until I get the point- we need to go OVER THERE and see his friend…like… Now!

If it’s a dog he doesn’t know or socialize with there can be an issue- like sometimes the other dog will freak out a bit.

When that happens I make Hamish sit and like magic he turns into the best little dog in the world. He’ll just sit there and stare straight ahead. It’s pretty impressive because some part of Hamish is always alert and happy and moving about.

It took me a while to figure out he was good at this because my cats do it- they turn into little statues and set off dogs walking by their window.

So my best little dog in the world aces this command in the hopes that the other dog will go crazy- and most of them do.

The minute I tell him to walk, he twirls his tail around in a circle and does his version of a laugh.

I love my dog, I love my cats but I think they have rubbed off on each other in some unexpected ways and I don’t know if I should laugh or be worried.

At this point, I think I choose…

amused.

To My Crepuscular and Quiet Companion

I want to take this chance to dedicate

every dark thought, every dark dream, every  dark word

I have ever written

to you

my

Crepuscular and Quiet Companion.

When the time comes

I will bury next

to the tree in my yard

the one that died for no reason at all

when I was  13 years old.

I won’t bury you deep, in grave lined with granite or marble or cement

My Dark and Quiet Companion

I want you to come back to me soon

after you’ve gone

So we can play with words and thoughts and dreams

like we always have

uninterrupted, alone in our darkness

Under trees that have died

for no reason

at all.

My Crepuscular and quiet Companion.
