Corner Of My Eye

SFC Adventure Calander Day One-PORTALS

Photographer Unknown

Is the portal that I am looking a scarred oak door with leather hinges  in a haunted house?

Is it a coffin lid, soft and eaten away with wood rot and mold shrouded in dust in a crypt made of rough stones and broken marble?

Is the portal a broken window? The attic stairs in my Nan’s empty house?  That dark corner, in my Aunt’s sewing room that smells like vanilla when it gets cold outside?

Is the portal I need to find, to make the words for my stories come alive  truly a door, or could  it be a candle in a dark window that a lonely lost soul like me can see from miles and years away?

Is the portal a door or is it a shadow that I think I see for moments at a time from the corner of my eye?

FOWC with Fandango: SEGMENT

I stayed away from the internet  and the news shows yesterday and for most of the days leading up to the Midterm Elections here in the States because Donald Trump and a segment of the population here make me want to hurl.

I know enough about campaigns to know that the minute the ballots drop, that there is nothing going on except GOTV efforts which are designed to do two things- hold your base because their ballots are in their hands and you need for them to check those boxes and get it returned , and to scrape up those Voters who, in my opinion  like to say that their undecided because they like the attention they’ll get.

It’s a weird sort of psychology- the only people who get more attention when they declare they are undecided after ballot drop are the candidates themselves.  The news cycle, social media are courting those undecideds and every time someone is talking in an ad ( which some people actually believer are informative ) they believe that a campaign is talking to them directly. They are. But it’s a waste of money.

Undecided know damn well who they will vote for and some of them never bother to vote at all. But they’re not going to tell you that.

Besides, I  watched Domestic Terrorists attack our Nation’s Capital on January 6th and the last thing I wanted to do was watch sitting Republicans open their mouths and say something other then, ” Yep. We tried to overthrow an election and we’re going to do it again if we have to ” because that’s their one and only plan. For Godsakes, tell the truth for once.

So yesterday in my state a Trumphumper tried to take out our Senator and fail. That one I cared about because Patty Murray actually does her job for the people of Washington state and if the seat she holds went to a Trumphumper  we would all be in trouble- even the Trumphumpers.

I guess now that the air has cleared a little I’ll blog, I’ll look at cat pictures and Winter paintings and I’ll hit the reset button in my brain.

Until the next time.

Not Quite Alice

Inspired By SFC ” Monday Madness

This is a clown fish at home.

The Clown Fish lives with Sea Anemones where it is protected by the Sea Anemones’s stinging tentacles. The Sea Anemone also provides the Clown Fish with food.  In turn the Clown fish protects The Sea Anemone from it’s parasites and predators and it feeds the Anemone too- and the only thing I can compare that  feeding too is when my dog used to eat my cat’s poo from the litter box.

This is the Amanita Muscaria- it’s a relative of the Destroying Angel.  The Destroying Angel will kill you. End of Story. Full stop. If you know what you’re doing Amanita Muscaria you won’t kill you, but it will make you very sick.

This is a dress that I think was inspired by Amanita Muscaria- I thought when I saw it  thought that I would  like like a Princess from a Fairy Tale preserved in one of those old volumes you see under lock and key at an antique shop.

What would the caption under my picture say of me in my dress-? Would I be standing or dancing? Would I be on the arm of a Prince or would I be entering The Great Hall with a sly smile on my lips?

Anita Moscoso- the caption under the picture of me in my dress might say- she won’t kill you but if you don’t know what you’re doing she could make you really, really sick.

A Song For Wintertime

One of my favorite shows on TV is called ” Ghosts” .

The premise is a young couple inherit a grand old house that is haunted by generations of Ghosts. The twist? After having a near death experience- brought on by one of the ghosts, Samantha/Allison can now see ghosts and she sees them everywhere.

There is a the Original version which airs in the UK and the American version which airs here in the States. I love both versions because they different so you don’t feel like you’re watching the same show with actors with different accents.

The British version is a tad bit darker and the American Version seems to focus more on the Ghosts, but like I said I love both versions.

I bought the DVD’s for the original version because it was cheaper then buying it through Amazon Prime’s streaming service. I had taken to watching and episode here and there and one night I hit the Christmas episode where the Ghosts and Samantha sing ” In The Bleak Midwinter ”

It really was a perfect song for Ghosts to sing at Christmas time and when the camera shifted to the Plague Victims in the basement and they looked up and sang, I’ll be honest I was moved.

So for my Sunday Song pick, I present ” Ghosts ” singing  In The Bleak Midwinter.
