Hamish Finds Paradise

Thursday Inspiration 61-Paradise

Life is paradise, and we are all in paradise, but we refuse to see it.

Fyodor Dostoevsky

With all due respect to the great Dostoevsky, I know someone who has seen paradise.

That would be my dog, Hamish Macbeth.

I know he’s seen paradise because it shines from his eyes-even when they are closed.

I sing this song to Hamish because his Pupper Dad is named Leroy Brown.

Also, when I sing it to him, he grabs his toy that looks like a guitar and runs around the house with it.

Super cute, right?

Like I said, Hamish sees paradise everywhere and he hears it too.

Mismatched Eyes

Thursday Inspiration 60- “Beast”

It doesn’t need teeth

or claws

it doesn’t feed on flesh or blood or bone

it’s never been born and it will never die

the beast in my head with the mismatched eyes.

It never flinches and it’s always hungry

sometimes it lives in the walls

it creeps down the hall

to where I don’t sleep

and my nightmares beg

for release

from the beast in my head with mismatched eyes.

” Is anyone up there?  It’s sunset! ”
Someone howled from beneath my feet.

“Be with you in a sec. ” I answered with a growl

and with a voice full of darkness

I said  to the voice beneath my feet

” It’s going to be killer to see you.”

I looked up into the Sunset

I looked down

into the Earth

and then I started to dig.
