A Little Teeny Taste

If you are not quite ready to jump into the Halloween/Horror movie pool because it’s still August and  you’re sitting around in  80 PLUS degrees ( that’s like 27 celsius ) like I am, I get it you’re not feeling it. But STILL you’d like a little taste of ” Halloween ” movies. So I’ve got two picks for you to hopefully satisfy that craving just a bit. One is a movie and the other is a series and they’re from Iceland.

One is a movie called ” I Remember You ” and the other is a series called  “Katla.” I liked them both for the same reason, they crawled under my skin and they moved. Plus I love movies and series that are considered “slow burns”. I like to savor stories so I’m partial to that format.

I’ve put a spoiler video under the promo for Katla because it explains the story. I know you’re wondering why I would do that, right?

Well. There is a lot going on in this series and I watched it cold-  as I was watching it I started to wonder if I missed things because I was caught up in the moment. Turns out I did, but that’s ok. I just went back and watched it again. I’ve included a cheat sheet because some of what I didn’t grab onto were really interesting pieces and I wished I would have been more aware of them at the time.

No cheaters for  ” I Remember You ” because it’s a straight up horror story and I say watch it and let it do it’s magic.

There are 80 days left to Halloween and the fun hasn’t even started yet.

The Icelandic sci-fi mystery series ‘Katla’ creates a compelling world in the shadow of an active volcano and explores the otherworldly phenomenon that it precipitates. As the residents of the small, abandoned, and ash-covered town of Vik grapple with the reappearance of mysterious humanoids claiming to be their loved ones, they uncover multiple layers, both literally and figuratively, that their town sits on. The stark Icelandic setting of the show makes it all the more intriguing, and it is no surprise that audiences the world over have become absorbed in its world-THE CINEMAHOLIC

” I Remember You “

An elderly woman hangs herself in a church. A grieving father searches for the truth about what happened to his missing son. And a trio of young city dwellers unleash a sinister force when they begin renovating a cursed home on a remote island. They don’t know it yet, but each of these strangers is connected by a disturbing, decades-old secret—a mystery that holds the key to a series of terrifying supernatural events. Based on the acclaimed novel by the ‘Queen of Icelandic Crime,’ this atmospheric chiller is both a hair-raising ghost story and a powerful tale of life beyond death.- Movie Promo
