RDP Wednesday: QUIRKY

If you are a kid, or even an adult it’s ok to be off beat  and quirky if you are  in a tv commercial or a print ad for breakfast cereal or fabric softener.

In that Universe your hair can be messy, your clothes can be rumpled and may not fit perfectly.

But in the real world, if you are off beat and quirky nobody thinks you’re cute, nobody is going to embrace those little details that make you stand out in a crowd. The world will demand your compliance and if you are lucky you can fend that world off and be yourself.

To you quirks out there- good luck and hang tough. I’m cheering for you.

I don’t need a perfect place to read.

It doesn’t matter what color the walls around me are, if the carpets are plush or the floorboards under my feet are are polished or rough.

It doesn’t matter if I sit in a comfy chair and read by firelight or candlelight, I don’t need a cup of something warm on the table next to me.

If the story I am reading is really good, even if it’s bad I’m not really in this world at that exact moment in time. The roof  above my head is the last thing I’ll be thinking about.
