Yesterday I pulled out my new editions of the Mel Bay Guitar Method books, set up a practice area in my living room and started to get my hands and ear back in shape for playing guitar.
When I decided I wanted to play again, I knew my hands would be out of shape, I hadn’t read music for AGES and I was worried about my ear ( in order to tune my guitar ). I decided to go back to the Mel Bay beginner books because they’re basic and when I first learned guitar when I was 12, these were the books my music teacher, Mr. Martin used. I built off of his lessons and I even delveloped great technique, so I thought I’d use those books again.
If you are wondering what it felt like to play simple exercises and whatit was like to go over notes and scales again after being a lead guitarist in rock bands- to be perfectly honest-
It was a lot of fun.
