I’m making a list- I’m checking it twice

RDP  Tuesday: GOAL!

I have been known to chart my life, I have a list of goals that I want to accomplish,  I promise  myself  everyday that I will care about my future.

I even track my New Years Resolutions and note which ones I kept.

Why do I do this, you may be wondering.

Well first off, I’m a writer so it feels natural to write things down.

In addition to that there was something about housing my life in words committed to paper that makes me feel in control of things. On the other hand they are a lists and lists by nature  are boring-and then one day I looked at one of my goals- I mean I REALLY  looked at it and one of my goals jumped out at me.

Visit Miami, Florida.

My cousin lives in Florida, but I’d rather meet him in Hawaii where our family lives. So the reason I wanted to visit Miami was this:

I had started watching ” Dexter ” on Netflix and there are so many exciting exterior shots in Dexter that I started to want to go and see Miami for myself.

It looked so exciting. Especially at night plus they were always show things like Cuban food and Cuban music in these beach front clubs and  the women all wear really cool summer clothes and the heat didn’t bother anyone.

They all  look so cool.

Here’s the thing.

On my list, the list of things I use as guidelines for my life was an item inspired by a show about a  Serial Killer.

Call me odd, but I’m not sure that my list is as boring as I have always thought they were. I might just have to put a little more gusto into them.

Now Is No Time To Panic

WPDailyPrompt: Create an emergency preparedness plan

I  already have an earthquake plan, I have a fire plan, I have a plan for what to do if the transportation system in Seattle fails and I have to get out of town and home to my dog.

But none of these plans will work if you ( or in this case me )  don’t follow one golden rule.

If you don’t stay calm,  the best emergency  plan in the world won’t help you.

Also, I always keep water and snacks in my backpack ( I take that with me everywhere ) and a sharpie pen- in case I have to write my info on my arm.

Those are my plans, except for the Fire one I have used my Earth Quake plan and transportation fail plan and they worked. Lucky me. Right?

PS the Triangle of Life is an unsubstantiated theory about how to survive a major earthquake. DO NOT use it.

When I am afraid that my clock is winding down and my heart is racing with  fear

when I realize that  calander full of dates and weeks and months hanging on my kitchen wall

is not printed contract between me and time,

I think of all of the stories that are left to be written and  the books that I have yet to read

and the storm in my head goes away and I am at peace.
