You don’t have to cover someone’s face with an iron mask or dark heavy cloth to make them invisible, to make them a non-person.

You can make them invisible by refusing   to acknowledge their very existence  with a smirk, a quip or with unbridled lust stamping them out of existence by banning or burning their books,  their art, mocking their music, or when you mispronounce their name with glee.

That is much more insidious, isn’t it?
