“It is so hot here,” he said, “it seems that people move like they’re wearing something heavier than their skin.” Brad said as he and Jeff pushed the chair trolley into the viewing room
” Well they are, ifyou think about it ” Jeff said.
Brad and Jeff were setting up the chairs as they always did for this one and only occasion- the rest of the time they were pushing mops and brooms and emptying the small gray plastic trash cans next to the desks in the administration building.
Jeff took three chairs from the chair trolley and set the first row up- he left enough space between each one so that the person seated in it could get up and walk between the chairs instead of around the row.
Brad set up the row behind him and added a few more chairs to his row and when they were done they stood back and checked their work.
” Why do you think it’s so hot in here? ” Jeff asked, has anyone check the AC? Is there AC? Do you know?”
Brad shrugged, ” I don’t think anyone notices one way or the other when they’re in here for a viewing.”
” But you can feel it right? How warm it is and how hot it is, you know after. ”
Brad and Jeff each had a pretty good idea why it was so hot in the Viewing Room but they kept their opions to themselves.
They just set up the chairs and hustled themselves out and as the door to the Viewing Room 64 that looked into the execution chambers whispered shut behind them they savored the cool air in the hallway and wished like crazy that the coke machine was right around the corner and not over in the next building.

The heat is on in the viewing room. Nicely done, Anita. Thanks for joining in this week.
A piece of classic Anita writing. Love the twist
