Sunday Is Artwalk Day

Last Sunday was a pretty good day to go out and see some Art- being that it’s October I was hoping to start finding little of the Odd and Macabre and I did!

Grave Offerings:

I’m pretty sure the family didn’t leave these at the graveside ( and the caretaker didn’t think so either ) but they were interesting trinkets and I’m sure there’s a little story to be told.

Or maybe two.

When it’s dark.

Hamish Becomes Art

I was playing fetch with my dog and snapped this picture- I was to late to get the shot I wanted so I almost didn’t save it, but then I really looked at it and…

Upon closer inspection I saw Cujo.

Sometimes we become art without even knowing it.

In The Shadow Of Anubis

Day Seven: “Big” — A Point of View

Today, let’s go big. Photograph something of massive size, inside or outside.

I took these a few years ago when the King Tut exhibit came to Seattle.

I had been lucky enough to be invited to an event for the Media and Elected officials before it was opened to the public.

I was beside myself- I was going to have a chance to stroll through the exhibits eat some great food and hear some great music- plus there was a bug zoo going on at the same time.

What can be better then that?

Seeing this before the exhibit opened:

I walked out of my warehouse and saw this peeking at me from the street above:

I couldn’t believe it- Anubis, looking out over me.

I had been fascinated with archeology since I was eight years old and most of what motivated me to learn and work as an embalmer was Anubis and what he represented.

I walked a little closer and looked up – it was a very surreal moment.

The  I ran through the tunnel to the street above and there he was:

Anubis would look over the building I work in for the entire time  The King Tut Exhibit was in Seattle- the day they took him away I couldn’t watch. It was sad.

Still, when I walk by the King Street Station I can still see him there:

I took these photos with my digital point and click camera- I was trying to figure out how to use it and get interesting shots from it despite the fact it did all of the thinking.

But I did all the feeling.
