It’s Like This, Honey

Inspired by the SFC Prompt: Tholos Dreaming

My favorite wild animal is the Wolf- my second isn’t an animal its an insect.

It’s the Bee.

Like Wolves, Bees are important to our environment and where they have been eradicated or hunted down or poisoned the environment fails.

Maybe my love for these animals stems from their underdog status.

Or maybe when I see them I remember how fragile our connections to each other and our world is and it breaks my heart- but not in a bad way.

The bee was originally the symbol of an early Anatolian goddess who the Greeks later identified with their goddess, Artemis; so close was the connection that the priestesses of the goddess were called “honey bees.”

Corner Of My Eye

SFC Adventure Calander Day One-PORTALS

Photographer Unknown

Is the portal that I am looking a scarred oak door with leather hinges  in a haunted house?

Is it a coffin lid, soft and eaten away with wood rot and mold shrouded in dust in a crypt made of rough stones and broken marble?

Is the portal a broken window? The attic stairs in my Nan’s empty house?  That dark corner, in my Aunt’s sewing room that smells like vanilla when it gets cold outside?

Is the portal I need to find, to make the words for my stories come alive  truly a door, or could  it be a candle in a dark window that a lonely lost soul like me can see from miles and years away?

Is the portal a door or is it a shadow that I think I see for moments at a time from the corner of my eye?

This is my Granddaughter Jemma.

For Halloween she decided to be Pennywise for Halloween and she killed it-well. You know what I mean:

A month or so ago she grew into a the motorcycle jacket I bought her when she was just a couple of years old. I got it for her because it was a copy ( almost ) of the one I bought for myself when I was 16. I wore it into my 40’s until it was worn out beyond repair. I have it stored in one of those boxes you store wedding gowns in,

Hell. I didn’t even go through that trouble for my actual wedding dress.

Recently Jemma picked out a dress, put on the jacket and posed with the family dog for a picture:

She said she was dressed up as the Bride of Chucky:

Her Mom said she reminded her of Buffy The Vampire Slayer- the original Buffy, not the TV version. I get that because Jemma is an athletic kid and the Tv Buffy Buffy didn’t carry herself the way Kristy Swanson- or for that matter the way Jemma does.

I think Jemma captured Tiffany’s spirit ( ahem ). It was something in that smile:
