I grew up in a family where women were perfectly fine with women getting tattoos. None of them ever got one themselves and I don’t have one, but it’s nice to know I had the choice.
I never got one because I didn’t have a reason to tell stories on my skin because I write. Had I not ever started writing I probably would have a few by now.
These ancient women had tattoos. I decided to post their stories here:

Tattooed Siberian princess
Scientists found an incredibly well preserved mummy in the ice in Siberia, carbon dated at close to three thousand years old. She was most likely very wealthy, her clothing silks and furs, considered to be very “high end”. That and other items found in her burial chamber point to her potentially being royalty. They’re unsure how she died, although MRI scans showed she had breast cancer and x rays show bone breaks and fractures consistent with being thrown from a horse. They also found a pouch of herbs that tested as cannabis. One of her arms is so well preserved it clearly shows a full sleeve of tattoos, the most legible is the one shown on her upper arm.
