A Tale of Two Mummies

There are 11 days to Halloween and I am here to say it’s going to be a Double Creature Feature at my house this weekend.

Unusual shots of Karloff as the MUMMY (1932)

First up I’m going to watch  ” The Mummy ” staring Boris Karloff and after I’m done with that,  I’m going to sit back with a fresh bowl of over buttered popcorn and watched The King do battle with a Pharaoh with a nasty potty mouth.

What? What film is that I am speaking of?

Bob Ivy as Bubba Ho-Tep

Why Bubba Ho-Tep of course:

Bubba Ho-Tep is one of those films I only watch at Halloween- and it’s not for the obvious reason. I watch it in the Fall because at it’s heart this is a story about two men facing their own Autumns and even though it’s cold and dark for them, they are brave enough to face  it head on.

In addition   I just love this film to death- so here are some clips featuring and interview with Bruce Campbell, my favorite fight scene and music from the film.

Deck Those Halls!

Just a few decorations from Halloween past and present.

My son shot the video of the animatronic  possessed girl last week ( my favorite is when her head spins around and you can hear those gears crunching ) and the Pennywise mat is at his house.

The wreath and the signs are mine- I actually keep the tin signs up near my kitchen year round because they just work in that space.

I’d like to find something creepy cool to put on my deck, but nothing has jumped out at me- yet.

Home Late

Unknown

She heard her husband walking down the hall to the kitchen where she was standing at the sink. She always stood there when she was stuck on what to make for dinner.

” Something followed me home from the bus stop. ” Dewey told his wife from the doorway ” that’s why I’m late. I kept stopping and turning around the way you do and Ruby for sure. Something followed me home. ”

Ruby leaned over the sink and looked out the kitchen window. ” It’s foggy tonight. I guess you wouldn’t be able to see much of anything.”

” That’s a fact. But I could smell it Ruby and it smelled bad. Really bad.”

Ruby was still looking out the window. ”  Was it really that foul? ”

“I’ll say. It made my eyes water. What do you suppose it could be Ruby? ”

Ruby went to the back door and before she opened it she looked back at Dewey and her long black tongue shot out of her mouth and her yellow eyes burned in her pale face. ” Dinner. ” she told him.

The door slammed behind her and Dewey went to the cabinet where they kept their dinnerware and butcher knives and then he began to set the table.
