“Mademoiselle X” visited French doctor Jules Cotard with a list of familiar ailments- depression and anxiety. In addition to that she believed she was dead and that her internal organs were rotting and that she was doomed to roam the earth as a rotting corpse.
For the curious, Madame X believed she had died after a fainting spell and shortly after in her mind, she had begun to decompose.
