Making A List I’m Checkin’It- Once

Artist Unknown

WP Prompters have asked us to list 30 things that make (us) you happy.

My first thought was I was going to have to sit down and make a boring old grocery list of things that make me happy- which isn’t  exactly easy because what makes me happy can change from day to day or year to year. So was I going to make a ‘greatest hits’ list or  a list that reflects how I feel at this exact ( still as dry as toast ) and then KABOOM- it hit me like a that creepy cold fog that crawls around graveyards in old black and white horror films.

I realized that the 30 things that fill my heart with joy and wonder and all of that touchy feeling good stuff are

THE 30 DAYS BEFORE HALLOWEEN:

Each day before Halloween has it’s own Spirit, it’s own flavor, and on top of that spooky stuff happens- and if it doesn’t spontaneously happen you can make it happen.

So there you have it- the 30 Things that make me happy. That bring me joy, that make me glad I’m alive.

I thought I would add something to the “Barbie” conversation:

Last weekend I spent my time catching up on my reading. Presently I’m reading a collection of short stories by Algernon Blackwood and I’m almost finished with one called  ” The Wendigo. ”

I’ve come to the part when the Wendigo passes over the sleeping hunters and they react to it’s smell, but they don’t wake up.  That really creeps me out and that’s where I stopped reading for the night.

This is what happened that night:

It’s been warm and I’ve had the fan on low in my bedroom to move the air around at night to freshen things up a bit.

I was fast asleep when this little puff of air sort of drifted across my face and rested on my cheek and just over my eye and I’ll bet you thought I was going to say I woke up screaming.

HA! I did not.

I woke up thinking to not make a sound- whatever I do- don’t make a sound.

After a few seconds I did. Of course I did.

Ask anyone living within a square mile of me.
