The Tea Towel

About 10 years ago someone nuked my entire life- my home, my family, my friends my WORLD evaporated just like that.

I reflected on  the tea towel saying about what doesn’t kill you makes your stronger and I decided that if I ever found the person who started slapping that stupid saying on bumper stickers and t-shirts I would twist their head off and feed it to the rats that had recently infested the shed in my back yard and had started to find their way into my house.

But as fate would have it, my world has again been nuked by delusional  prick and his toe licking  minion and I find myself in the same head space ( luckily minus the rats ) again.

AGAIN.

But here is the funny party, well not funny ha ha, but funny.

I’ve realized I know how to navigate the ruins of a life and a devastated world and I’m pretty sure that I know it won’t be easy but I can do it.

What do you know- tea towel sayings guy had it right after all.

Seasons 2024

I put together this series of pictures to tell a little story about last year’s seasons.

I didn’t put a lot of thought into it, I approached it like the way I would I stream of consciousness writing excercise.

Thank you to Bushboys’ post about ” This is January 2025 ” for the inspiration!

Spring:

I used to have a fabulous herb garden and in the Spring I was out there everyday working on it,. Then I moved to toilet town and I don’t have a garden anymore. But I still have Hamish and he loves the spring. He gets a little impatient when I stop to take his picture because he is so intent on tracking.

Hamish knows how to live in the moment.

I need to work on that.

I hate summer.

The only thing I like about the Summer is watching my Sun  worshiping friends turning into a leathery looking mummies right before my eyes.  It’s like a NatGeo show about Mummies only I don’t have to pay a cable provider to watch it.

It goes without say that I won’t put a picture up of any of my Mummy friends because I don’t want to blow that gig. Also, I don’t have a lot of friends so I don’t want to make anybody mad and hurt their feelings.

Instead here is a picture of a boat that is slowly being reclaimed by the Sound. It’s like the Body Farm in Tennessee for boats.

It probably smells a little better then the body farm and you don’t have to be up to date on your vaccinations to explore it.

At least I don’t think you do- whoa I hope your don’t!

I love the Fall. I love the promise of winter. I like the food. I like the fun events. I like the sound of dry leaves rustling along the ground when it’s windy. I love it because the Ghosts are on their way for a visit.

Winter.

After a long year. After all of the drama. Winter comes along and it’s time to bundle up, to be quiet and wait for it to snow.

I spend all  year waiting for the winter.

I am waiting right now.

Ring Ring Ring

Today’s WP question is: In what ways do you communicate online?

Back when I was a Politician’s wife, my newly minted Facebook ( and Facebook was just becoming a ‘thing’ )  page took a lot of traffic in- of course it was being trolled by other Politicos who thought they could get into my head by seeing what I posted on Facebook.

I wasn’t stupid, so I went out of my way to post cat meme’s and Calvin and Hobbs comics and an ocean of non-sense because WHY NOT.

On the other hand, my blog- oh yes my blog was where I would tell you EXACTLY what I thought.I did it in prose and poetry and editorial posts. But for some reason people really did believe that they could ‘see into what I meant’ by what I posted on Facebook.

If I wrote ” the Democrats in my LD  first inclination is treat me like a slow witted mental defective,  but to play it safe   they pat me on the head and smile into my face  and tell me how smart I am because they want to impress my husband” – they didn’t think that was true or noteworthy or even insulting.

Oh no. They would look at a meme I posted  of a cat screaming into a dog’s face and think they had just gained some secret insight into my psyche and by extension husband’s mind.

So it was all of those years ago when I saw people quipping and tweeting and thinking that these one sided conversations that they were having with themselves I decided that Facebook, Tweets, texts were pointless and useless.

If I want to talk to someone, I will call them. If I want to express myself I write on my blog.

So that’s the easy answer. If I want to communicate on line, I do it on my blog.
