If You Go Into The Woods Today…

RDP Tuesday: pomp

It’s a grand song, a bouncy joyful song about  our beloved toys coming to life and sneaking off for a picnic.

You’re free to join in the fun, if you wear a disguise, keep your head down and I’m guessing it’s probably not a good idea to get caught

because

toys that come to life and sneak off to the woods to have a party is a situation that will probably not end well – if you pay attention to these little rhymes and slightly dark little songs, it never does, does it?

Teddy Bear’s Picnic

If you go down in the woods today
You’re sure of a big surprise
If you go down in the woods today
You’d better go in disguise!

For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain
Because today’s the day the
Teddy Bears have their picnic

Picnic time for Teddy Bears
The little Teddy Bears are having
A lovely time today
Watch them, catch them unawares
And see them picnic on their holiday

See them gaily gad about
They love to play and shout
They never have any cares
At six o’clock their Mommies and Daddies
Will take them home to bed
Because they’re tired little Teddy Bears

Every Teddy Bear who’s been good
Is sure of a treat today
There’s lots of marvelous things to eat
And wonderful games to play

Beneath the trees where nobody sees
They’ll hide and seek as long as they please
‘Cause that’s the way the
Teddy Bears have their picnic

Picnic time for Teddy Bears
The little Teddy Bears are having
A lovely time today
Watch them, catch them unawares
And see them picnic on their holiday

See them gaily gad about
They love to play and shout
They never have any cares
At six o’clock their Mommies and Daddies
Will take them home to bed
Because they’re tired little Teddy Bears
Because they’re tired little Teddy Bears

They Had Me At Cupcake Shops

I am the biggest fan of Weird New Jersey IN THE WORLD.

Well.

In my world anyway- which is pretty much just me, my dog- who is freaking AWESOME- my camera, laptop and my cool collection of neat stuff ( which consists of  things like gargoyles, some embalmers tools and a few casts of my family members teeth )

HOWEVER.

Weird NJ is the Promised Land for those of us who love to explore the odd and the macabre.  I’ve had to read the books and magazines and watched anything Weird NJ  on TV.

It fed my weird and curious little Soul.

Truthfully, I always felt a little cheated that Washington State didn’t have anything like Weird NJ. I’d go as far as to say I was downright embarrassed that we seemed so boring and normal.

So yesterday I find out  from about a half dozen emails from  some of my friends who know how much I THRIVE on strange and curious, that right here in Seattle we have our very own version of Mark & Mark- and that we are not so normal here out in the Pacific Northwest.

BOOYAH!

Meet Garrett ( on the left ) and Jeremy

Garret and Jeremy started to track  and map weirdness and what they ended up with was a to do list for anyone who believes that there is more of the world to see then places with good reviews on Yelp.

Final Wishes?

Have you ever noticed all events share a formula? I mean ALL of them.

For example-weddings.

The Proposal:

Food for the guests:

Choice of flowers:

Funerals are exactly like planning a wedding, when you think about it.

The Tree Has Fallen

If you have ever watched a Sci-Fi movie then you know filmmakers have layered on music, people breathing frantically in fear, rocket engines and upon occasion some Rock and Roll. The need to fill up that space with sounds is there because the quiet is pretty creepy plus, it makes the visuals feel incomplete

So we fill in the blanks.

The Solar System is very much quiet to our ears- but the fact is our Solar System and the rest of the Universe is noisy- here’s a sampling of what we are missing.

It’s a shame. It’s all very lovely- in a dark and stormy night kind of way.
