Anita- On A Sunday !!!

Today I got the news that the illness a member of my family was suffering from was NOT cancer.

Our text message string was full of heartfelt ‘ thank Gods ” and prayer hands and angel wings because this person is a cancer survivor and seriously, she doesn’t need a new form of Cancer deciding to take her to the wall, you know?

I was on board with that sentiment. I thanked God to- all of them.

Would anyone on that string have been surprised had I said that and followed it with little pitch forks and horns and angel wings and prayer hands?

Not in the slightest- so why I made a joke about Baby Jesus instead, I will never know.

All I know is that Baby Jesus is my go to guy when I get caught in these situations and I’m not sure how to respond.

I know.

It’s devilish of me to act that way.

Wasn’t it?

The House of Anubis

Bloganuary writing prompt: What would you do if you won the lottery.

If I won the lottery, I would buy four funeral homes and above each door of each home I’d have a quater sized etching of Anubis- because Anubis inspired me to go into the Funeral work and for awhile that’s what I did.

And for awhile I knew exactly who I was and that I was exactly where I should be.

I have not felt that way since.

10. “Tickety-boo” — What a bomb says when it had no intention of blowing up in your face at all.

The Sleep Room

RDP Thursday: In My Room

Gertrude Abercrombie

Before I moved to toilet town, I lived in the suburbs and at that time I was suffering from mindshredding insomnia.

The insomnia was brought about by depression and if you are wondering is the lack of sleep really does drive people a little mad- it does.

Boy does it ever.

So not wanting to end up as a chalk outline, I decided to do something about it.

I talked to my Doctor and he recommended that before we even considered ‘sleep aides” aka drugs he wanted me to try something.

I wasn’t supposed to use my bedroom for anything but sleeping in.

I had to empty it of everything except my bed.

I used another room to  keep my clothes  I didn’t have pictures on the walls or books on the shelves- all that I  had in there is a bed and  when I  went into it, I went straight to the bed.

It worked. It didn’t happen right away but I was able to fall asleep and stay asleep like a normal person. I haven’t suffered from insomnia since.

The funny thing is that now if I go back to my bedroom ( it isn’t that sparse anymore ) and I spend more then 10 minutes back there I start to get drowsy.   I don’t have that reaction when I’m traveling or I’m spending time away from home- my temporary sleeping quarters don’t have that affect on me.

My bedroom at home does.

I think it would be nice to have a regular bedroom, a place to just relax and read but the reality is I go back there, I  will fall asleep.

Call me a worry wart, but I don’t want to change my bedroom habit because I’m afraid the insomnia will come back.

I really am afraid of going there again.

So my room is like a tomb- well now- there’s a thought.

Maybe that’s why this method works for me.
