Edgar’s Web

On the 19th of January Edgar Allen Poe’s devoted readers ( of which I am one )

recognized his Edgar’s birthday.

I celebrated by binge watching ” The Fall of The House of Usher” on Netflix because it is a damn fine tribute to Poe’s works. Plus I loved the series and wanted to watch it  AGAIN and on top of that I was sick and couldn’t do much anyway.

So as I watched the death of Lenore it came to me that any one of Poe’s creations would have scoffed at the idea of celebrating a dead man’s birthday.

They would have been more likely to celebrate that person’s death.

And that my friend is what separates some Poe’s fans from the others on the finely spun web of words that made images that he left us to celebrate always.

She was somebody’s Mom, he was somebody’s Dad

Lizzie and Silas, no last name resting side by side under

a forest of crispy, cold green grass.

I wonder what color his eyes were, I wonder if she liked to bake cookies, I wonder they

liked dogs and if they ever traveled to Canada or Mexico or maybe even Hawaii.

Lizzie and Silas did you ride motorcycles, did drink or smoke or swear?

Maybe you did a lot in your time, to much to etch in stone.

Bamboozled At Home

RDP Thursday  Bamboozle
Guess what! I found out the hard way that the ENTIRE parking lot at my apartments had turned into an ice rink due to freezing rain when I was walking Hamish Macbeth this morning.
We were a few steps in when I discovered our precarious situation, so all I did was keep my eyes down, I sort of jumped into my slides and skipped to the other side of the lot.
I think I yelled the EFF word the entire time. I tell a lie. I DID yell the eff word the entire time.
Anyway at this point I figured it was better to keep moving forward and it was.
Now.
BIG shout out to Hamish, the BEST boy in the world for keeping calm and for sticking close to me but avoided my unpredictable moves and did I mention I had dropped his leash a few skips and slides before?
I must have done that so he wouldn’t get hurt if I fell.
MY DOG IS THE BEST!!!!
