A Monstrous Question

Word of the Day Challenge: CHANGE

In most horror stories, people become monsters because they are forced to become monsters.

These individuals are cursed by Witches and Gypsies they are born into cursed blood lines. Upon occasion they are possessed by demons and evil spirits.

A question I like to address is, what if people these people  are monsters, and is what holds them in check the true curse?

Who would curse someone or an entire blood line from revealing what they really are.

Would that make the person casting the curse to show the monster for who they are a hero or a villain?

Isn’t it better to know who the monsters are, what they look like and what they want?

Flossing and Popcorn

I’m one of those adults that got hooked on the kid’s TV show Bluey.

My Granddaughter Jemma  introduced me to Bluey on my last trip out to visit her and there were  two things I saw that I l loved.

First were two characters that Bluey and here sister play- they’re two Grannies named Rita and Janet.

The second was this dance that Bluey and Bingo do called ” Floss ” I’ll have to admit I didn’t know ” Floss” was a real thing.

The reason I liked ithat skit from Bluey  so much was that it reminded me of this crazy dance to a crazy song that my Dad liked.

For the most part I loved my parent’s taste in music- but this one was a bridge to far for me. It was called ” Popcorn ”

One of these days I might show Jemma that old video of ” Pop Corn “, but right now she thinks I’m cool and I’d like to keep it that way.

Magic and Cookies

I don’t ask people that I admire for advice.

If my dog could talk, or my cat cared to share their opinion I would be all ears.

So when I need advice or guidance I resort to:

A Magic “8” Ball because the answers are short and sweet and easy to understand.

The Ouji Board is good, if you want weird creepy advice that could open a portal to Hell and let demons run riot through our dimension then this is the way to go. I mean, asking anyone else for advice is opening all kinds of doors and ther e is never anyway of knowing what could run out at you.

Plus, there are Ouji boards made out of shortbread cookie so this route has all sorts of fun pluses going for it.

And then  there is the coin toss- make a call and wait for the coin to hit the floor.

If you’re going to ask the coin to help you decide whether or not to do something stupid you’ll have a few seconds to change your mind.

And there  you have it, my list as inspired  by the WordPress Prompt: List the people you admire and look to for advice…

“Do not interact w/James today,”

The police found a note in their search of the murder victim’s home that said:

“Do not interact w/James today,”

It is assumed that the note referred to her alleged killer, former Bothell, Washington Councilman James Mcneal.

Former Bothell City Council member James Mcneal

James Mcneal belonged to the same Legislative District I used to live in, so when he first ran for office I would see him at Political events.

I remember watching him scan the room  as most politicos do at these things but what I remember about James is that when he focused on somebody and then walked towards them, I would tilt my head down- just a little and wait-

for what?

I don’t know.

What I do know is that I didn’t like what I saw.

Everyone saw this big confident guy striding across the room to do the meet and greet but I was seeing something else and I could not put my finger on what that was.

But when I saw James McNeal around I stayed away from him and I hated it, just hated it when he was standing behind me or anyone else for that matter.

Sometimes you hear that little voice in your head that warns you when something isn’t a good idea or when something is dangerous and in that split second it is suggesting reconsidering your options.

I write about Monsters all of the time, so maybe – and this is only just an idea- the voice I heard was my writer’s voice and it wasn’t whispering in my ear that I was near something monstrous and bad.

It was screaming.
