If there is one part of my routine that I can skip- and I often do- it’s TV time.

If I am stressed or bored, or I just want to clear my head, I skip turning on the tv and I avoid tuning out. I know that sounds counterproductive, but I really don’t advice shutting down when things are bad. It makes it harder to start up again.
What I do is that sometimes I turn on the radio ( classical music ) or I take my dog out for a walk. Sometimes I even bake or cook a new dish. I do these things because it takes away that feeling that I’m un-tethered from my own life.
Tv is entertainment, it’s an escape, and that’s fine. But is that always a good thing to do?
I don’t think so.
This sofa looks just like the one my mother chose in the 1950s–very avant garde.
And we had that exact clock as well!!! My mother had it for 20 years and when my aunt commented on it after my father’s death, my mother said, “Ben just hated that clock!” And it fell off the wall immediately after she said this!
That’s a great ghost story there Judy!
I very rarely watch TV anymore regardless of my mood. I’ll scroll for short videos online but that’s about it, and music I get through YouTube of Spotify, where I have an eclectic set of playlists sorted by genre (classical, Irish, jazz, oldies, etc.)
That looks like my play list too! But I toss Swing Music into that mix.
