Where Is The Remote?

If there is one part of my routine that I can skip- and I often do- it’s TV time.

If I am stressed or bored, or I just want to clear my head, I skip turning on the tv and I avoid tuning out. I know that sounds counterproductive, but I really don’t advice shutting down when things are bad. It makes it harder to start up again.

What I do is that sometimes I turn on the radio ( classical music ) or I take my dog out for a walk. Sometimes I even bake or cook a new dish. I do these things because it takes away that feeling that I’m un-tethered from my own life.

Tv is entertainment, it’s an escape, and that’s fine. But is that always a good thing to do?

I don’t think so.

  1. I very rarely watch TV anymore regardless of my mood. I’ll scroll for short videos online but that’s about it, and music I get through YouTube of Spotify, where I have an eclectic set of playlists sorted by genre (classical, Irish, jazz, oldies, etc.)
