When I wanted to unclutter my life, I went to my Facebook Page and restricted access to some people and kicked other people off.
I got tired of going onto FB to look at funny cat Memes and having one of my friends correcting my spelling, or asking me why I didn’t support Bernie Sanders and why I was SO stupid that I could NOT recognize that the Beatles were the Gods of Rock and Roll.
It was amazing how much more fun I had with FB ( at the time ) after I cleaned house.
Of course, now FB is in the toilet and my news feed is a mass of misinformation and hate posts so maybe it’s time to clean house entirely now.
I should probably leave it and REALLY clean house.
I couldn’t agree more or say it better- Facebook is a dying, shitty web of bollocks. The only thing that’s keeping me locked in, is all the photos and memories I have and had on there- back when it was far better online ‘place’. And the profiles. Remaining. Of my passed away friends and family – I scroll through their profiles and photos again and cry and smile at the memories and virtual existence of them left over now, on this realm of planetary living we remain upon.
I’ve started posting on BlueSky. Seems like a gentler space, although some of the AI nonsense is showing up. No hate stuff yet.
I do FB maybe once a week, and would leave entirely except that I’m supposed to administer the company site for them. It’s total waste of time. the entire concept has gone in the toilet, and now with content moderation gone it will. be worse.
They don’t charge to store pictures, which is the only thing I like. I figure that will go away soon though. I really like my blog and will probably open my daily journal blog up again. I just hate FB. Is it true they’re moving their ” Trust and Safety Team’ to Texas? LOL. In the state where reality goes to die.
I think “trust and safety” at FB has been dead for some while.
