Word of the day Challenge: Soul Food

Way back in the early 2000’s I was on line trying to find a restaurant that my friends and I had agreed to meet at that night for dinner.
All I could remember is that it sounded something like Soul Food and I thought maybe Cafe was in there too and I was surprised because my friends were suburban women and I couldn’t see them eating soul food. But anyway I typed in Soul Food Cafe and got a writer’s website based out of Australia.
It also looked like the participants were connected by their blogs -which intrigued me because blogging was a new thing back then and the only people I knew doing it were political blowhards.
I noodled around the page for awhile because I was ready to start writing again and this site was FUN. It had loads of prompts, ‘rooms’ to explore and what can I say? My muse caught fire.
I signed up the next day and over 25 years later I am still writing and blogging ( almost ) on a daily basis.

If you have ever followed a link to the Soul Food Cafe, you will know that this much loved site welcomed participants from all over the world and took them on magical blogging journey’s. In its original form Soul Food was online for nineteen years. Laying idle the time came for it to be archived. It can now be found, intact, within the archives of the Way Back Machine.
Heather Blakey, who built this site between 2000-2010, lives and creates in Central Victoria.

Just as a sidenote, the restaurant I was looking for wasn’t even close to being called the Soul Food Cafe- so I don’t know HOW I got that name stuck in my head. All I know is that my brain glitch set me on a path that I am still on today.
