When I was young, I hated the song Summer Breeze by Seals and Croft.
When it came on the radio I’d switch the channel and turn the volume up- I suppose I was trying to drown out the sound of that lazy, meandering song from my head
I used to think that thin crust pizza was a rotten cheat, it wasn’t a meal it was pizza pan scrapings as far as I was concerned.
and leather gloves were tight, smelly and made the shape of my ugly hands even worse.
But as I have aged, I’ve come to embrace and enjoy the song ” Summer Breeze ” and thin crust pizza and sometimes I wear leather gloves because in my mind’s eye I can see me as a kid looking at me and saying… ” are you weird now or what? “
I am weird, I say to her and proud of it.

I’ve always loved “Summer Breeze.” It reminds me of late afternoon sunlight streaming in through the sliding glass doors and gauzy curtains of my childhood livingroom. The sun would hit the pale avocado carpet (this was the 70s, after all), on a long fat slant, until the shadow from the curtains rippled through it with the breeze.
Thin crust and deep dish pizza both annoy my New York soul, and leather gloves, well, I’m not into that.
I was into all three. I liked Summer Breeze when it first came out, thin crust pizza was the only way in the local pizzeria which was an oddity in the 60’s and being a motorbike rider leather gloves were a must
You’re rebel Brian…. 🙂
😁
I was ahead of you in approving of Summer Breeze and thin crust pizza, but I’ve still never worn leather gloves in my life..Two out of three…
I’m sorry I didn’t appreciate those things sooner, but it is what it is.
Have you heard Kieth Urbans version? Amazing! Great song and Keith did really good!
Not yet, but I’ll check it out-thanks for the tip!
