So This Really Happened

For FOWC: ADVICE

Gen X Kids used to do this thing where we would throw lawn darts straight up into the air and dodge out of the way at the last minute. Nobody I knew ever lost an eye, but a bunch of us that weren’t so swift of foot have little  round scars around our ears.

I also remember our parents would be sitting on the patio, watching us dodge lawn darts and shooting roman candles off into each other’s faces while they were chain smoking and not caring if they were going to end up in the Emergency Room with their kid at the end of the night .

I can honestly say- I feel sorry for the generations who came after us. They didn’t get to test their mortality, win and have a story to tell.

They have avatars do it all for them.

Here’s my advice go out and buy a set of Lawn Darts a pack of Roman Candles and do NOT follow the safety instructions because  living stupid is better then not living at all.

[Verse 1]
It was the third of July
And the weather was fine
Ed brought the hotdogs
The croquet set was mine
But the red ball was missing
And three mallets were bent
Ed suggested lawn darts
So to Kmart we went

We looked by the yard games
We looked by the grills
But we couldn’t find lawn darts
Come high water or hills
We talked to the salesclerk
But she started to cry
She said “They’re off the shelves now”
And she told us both why

[Chorus]
A kid was pegged
In the head
With a lawn dart
Her dad
Didn’t see her
That’s the worst part

Behind The Wall

Inspired by: FOWC With Fandango — Version

I used to work in a crematorium- not as fancy looking as the Bradford Crematorium- but I can tell you what could be behind the wall in this picture.

I’m sure that room I worked in exists in all crematoriums,  but in different versions of course.

Besides the obvious and less decorative machinery  involved in this process, at the Crematorium I worked in there was an easy chair for you to sit on ( or a bars tool at the work table ) and next to the chair was a little shelf stock with Stephen King paperback novels and Archie comic books.

Down the little hallways was a room where we kept the unclaimed cremains on sturdy metal shelves (  some of them in very fancy urns, some in plain and dignified urns.)

Behind that room was a place where, stored in plastic totes- were the toys that we collected from graves after they had been there for awhile and the elements were beginning to take their toll on them.

And now you have an idea- what was behind this wall- and what you could find if you ever have the chance to peek behind one yourself.

A Word With The Manager Please

Dear White House dot Gov:

I think that before President Biden leaves the White House, he should set up a website called

ESGUSODA FI

ESGUSODA FI is Welsh for

Pardon Me.

So if you are a person of color, if you are a journalist, if you have more Republicans sniffing around your hoochie  then there are stars in the Universe and YOU  had the audacity to tell them to take their noses and hands elsewhere, if you are someone that Republicans define as ” woke ” then there should be a form  you can fill out and when all of the names are in, President Biden should issue a blanket Pardon to everyone on it.

We saw what happened when President Biden issued a Pardon to his son in order to protect him from an unhinged Trust Fund Baby who danced on stage for 40 minutes because Trump THOUGHT out of all the ideas that he has had this was a great idea.

A lot of people lost their collective brain cell.

There was no NEED to make a move like that cried the Republicans.

Oh sure, if I were Hunter’s Mom, I’d leave my son to the Mercy of a deranged convicted felon with his tiny little hands on the nuclear launch code.

Psyche.

I’d go full on Anne Wilkes ( from Misery) on my Pardon-Issueing President Husband and I insist he write out a pardon.

Annie Wilkes: God came to me last night and told me your purpose for being here. I am going to help you write a new book  PARDON

Paul Sheldon: You think I can just whip one out?

Annie Wilkes: Oh, but I don’t think Paul, I know.

I should add that some Democrats in office thought Hunter’s pardon was ‘bad for America and Democracy ‘ and of course so did a lot of people in the media but you know what:

I have zero F*&Ks to give where THOSE stains on democracy think. Ignore them. They’re jerks.

So my idea is AWESOME even though it may sound like a joke and it made me laugh.

But it’s not as if my funny bone has been tickled and I’m laughing with mirth.

All of the hairs stand up on my neck when I think about Trump and his cabinet chock full convicts and rapists and thieves descending upon the White House to finish off the devastation he created the last time he was there.

Hell Is Empty

‘Hell is empty and all the devils are here.’

William Shakespeare

There are  two guys who ride my train that support Trump.

Their conversations, loud enough for all of us to ‘enjoy’ always start off with them sounding ‘reasonable’ lighthearted and dare I say ‘personable’.

For example, they talked about people showing up  to Vice President’s Harris’ rally in Austin, actually the one they were referring to was in Houston but I digress. Some people there booed and they said, why show up at a rally just to do that? It’s a rally, they agreed with each other. What’s the point in making a scene?

Then they went down the rabbit hole, like they always do.

First they discussed the city of Seattle being shut down because of protesters over the weekend ( that NEVER happened ). They claimed that King County ( where Seattle is located ) should take a lesson from Pierce County ( where Tacoma is located ) because they claim that Pierce County ” Cops ” use helicopters to chase down protesters who ‘make trouble ‘ and try to escape law enforcement by car or on foot.

No. No. No. It has never happened.

Then one guy says to his friend that he knows  a ” Security Guy ”  that works at  protests and he  told him that if you get someone face down on the ground and stomp on the base of their spine, they ‘ ain’t running nowhere, they can’t move. ‘

” You can do whatever you want to them ” he laughed as he continued. ” You know what I would do? I’d rip their ears off. I’ve always wanted to rip someone’s ears off. ”

His friend joined him in a round of laughter. ” It’s not like they  use them ” he added.

This Halloween I tried to write stories about monsters and evil twisted souls. I wasn’t as productive as I wanted to be.

It was hard because reality had me beat before I could get a single word down.
