The Grave Robbers

Today’s Daily Prompt asks: How do you use social media.

In a nutshell I use social media like everyone else does and by that I mean that I snatch bodies of work from other people, I put it on a wall and I invite my closest friends and family to observe, learn and be entertained by my finds.

Once upon a time Burke and Hare did the same thing- they robbed graves to sell ‘ for medical study ‘and from there graduated to creating corpses themselves ( which makes them serial killers, but I digress ) and like most  Facebookers ,  who in their need to truly express themselves and to be heard  through comment sections and through their own works-  it didn’t go so well for them.

Now days Grammar Nazis and Self Appointed Art Critics with access to Google Arts will bust you down, hang you and in some cases skin you too, just like what the law did to William Burke back in 1828.

But in my opinion the hangman knows what he’s doing. Grammar Nazis are clumsy in their work. I guess  you could say the hangman has his work down to a science, dare I say an art form.

Grammar Nazis aren’t in the executioner’s league by any stretch of the imagination and as you can see here I can stretch my imagination long enough to wrap around the entire Earth- two or three times.

I know that some people might think that my drawing a comparison from social media users  to grave robbing body snatchers is just plain wrong. But then again, there a some who will probably think I’m spot on.

No Heaven For You!

Today BING  asked it’s users: Will Space Tourism Change the World?

Of course it will for one reason and one reason only.

From Gerry Anderson’s Fireball XL5

If people are able to hop into a Space Ship and speed out into the Solar system to ski on Pluto or wind surf on Neptune or maybe even go deep sea diving on Europa than I can safely say that the Solar system as we know it will end and it won’t be just robots exploring our System.

It will be chock full of rich people like these guys:

” Justice ” Clarence Thomas and a bunch of uber Rich People

In my younger days when I thought about space travel I thought of Captain Kirk and Han Solo. I even thought of things like what if Vampires and Werewolves found a way to pilot their own space ships- where would they go?

Artists Unknown

I miss those days when Space travel was an exciting idea because I really did believe  the Ray Bradbury and  Arthur C Clarke’s visions of ‘the future space travel’ might come to pass in one form or another.

But now I know that will probably never happen. Not the way they saw it.

There will be the Rich people sitting in those seats in Space Ships sailing off into the sky.

There will not be working class  people heading out to Mars to make a new life or to the Moon to greet Grandma back from her trip to see Saturn’s hexagon shaped storm at it’s North Pole.

The resorts on Titan and Mars will be full of the Mega Rich, their  Uber Rich friends and their soon to be super wealthy family members and of course ‘the help’.

Of course Space Tourism will change the world for a few of us and by that I do mean…

only a few of us.

Dry As A Bone

If you ask me anything related to numbers- like what time is is? How many eggs go into that mix? How many miles away is it? This little trickle of sweat starts at the back of my neck and races down my spine.

So if I could have ask for one talent- it wouldn’t be to sing, it wouldn’t be to dance.

It wouldn’t be to draw and paint or to be a great photographer.

I do all of those things anyway, I’m just really, really bad at all of them but a lack of talent has never stopped me from singing or drawing or taking pictures.

The one talent I’d wish for would be the talent to be a scary good at math,

If I was good at math I could have been an engineer for NASA  or a scientist. I don’t care which in which  field. I’ve just always wanted to be a scientist.

But I’m no good at math and I’m afraid of numbers and when  I day dream,  I always see myself in a lab with numbers all around me and the skin over my spine is as dry as a bone.

Word Of The Day Challenge: CONSENT

The Normalization of “Post-Truth”
Jeff Gates2017-08-23

Among my family members and friends are people who consider themselves ” Good Republicans ”  who  say they don’t like Trump and they do things like fly the flag on the 4th of July and they post pictures of soldiers  on their FB walls on Veterans day and they ever so gently point out I belong to a party ‘with the same kinds of problems ‘ as republicans so why bring up things like  Trump’s deadly attack on our Capitol and Trump’s distasteful  bromances with Dictators?

Of course President Obama was never accused of rape or for paying an adult film actress for her silence before his election and President Biden didn’t instruct law enforcement to shoot people in face when he wanted to clear the area for a photo-op and as far as I know he doesn’t think much of White Supremacists or Tucker Carlson.

But to their credit, they don’t rant and rave and claim that Democrats are cannibals who prey on children and they would never support the argument that we weren’t attacked on September 11th.

The problem is, they don’t say anything critical about Trump or the Republican party at all. And even though I care for my friends and family who are republicans I have taken note of the ones who have remained silent because –

“Your silence gives consent.”

and their silence is absolutely deafening.
