Rest, who needs it?
All I have ever wanted to do was run, dream, watch the stars fall
Pulled away from that all
by my vicious clock
and it’s relentless hands moving forward
demanding I do the same
Instead
maybe I should look at it’s
second hand, wearing down it’s face
there’s a lesson there.
Did you hear the alarm go off? I haven’t. Not yet. Not today.

What I like about writing these types of poems is that they are exercises in writing with specificity and succinct clarity. And they’re fun too.
