Cut flowers are dead flowers
and once they are severed from their roots
some are destined to a home in those little green vases
buried in the ground above a grave
in front of a headstone
left with sorrow to someone that somebody loved.
Cut flowers are dead flowers.
Go on, give them to someone you love
who is still alive and doesn’t have a gravestone
above their head with their name slowly being eaten away by time
It makes me laugh.
