#100DAYSOFHALLOWEEN HAPPY-Superstition

in Hoodoo Crossroads are where two roads meet to form an X.    Photo By: Jeremy Owen

In Wales, there is a superstion that says  a disembodied spirit was thought to be sitting on every crossroad and stile on All Hallow’s Eve. (Stiles are small structures that allow humans, but not animals, to pass over fences.)

The smart thing to do then is to avoid Crossroads on Halloween because you don’t know what you will run into, and it is safe to say” it”  probably won’t be waiting for you with a bowful of Bite Sized Snickers bars.

Disembodied Spirits are dangerous- they’re devilish when it comes right down to it.

M’kay. Warning noted.

So I guess I will see you there.

The Happy Lil Plague Doctor

For #100DAYSOFHALLOWEEN HAPPY– Weekend Plans

Over the weekend Luis visited our Granddaughter and he decided to give her a gift (because he has never done that before hahahahahaha)

Seriously. This gift giving was different in that he was in Wisconsin, and he could give Jemma her gift in person instead of having it delivered by USPS or UPS.

It’s more fun that way, isn’t it?

I won’t keep you in suspense, Jemma was enchanted by this gift.

Her Papa Luis gave her a Plague Mask- they’re all the rage with Wednesday Addams fans ( lol) so Jemma was pretty excited to get one.

The pretty ( scary) face under the mask:

Jemma also pointed out that her scary mask could also double as a Wizard’ s hat:

Happy one day closer to Halloween everybody! I hope you gave a scary mask in your future too.

Tune In

When I’m Feeling Blue

For #100DAYSOFHALLOWEEN HAPPY– My self care plan

Artist Unknown

I am a great believer in self care- after all if something happens to me what will happen to my dog?

So here are some things I do to keep myself on track when times get tough and the holidays ( which can be depressing )  are upon me:

Artist Unknown

No matter how much it pains me at time- I get out into the world and I explore it, participate in it,  find things that are good about it. The bonus is I get get a lot of exercise when I do this.

Artist Unknown

I watch my diet- by that I mean I eat regular meals on plates and not out of a microwave dish while standing at my kitchen window and NOT seeing what is outside.

Artist Unknown

I hang out with people- my family, my friends, people I ride the train with. I don’t isolate myself. People are ok. I like them just fine. Not as much as dogs, but still-I do enjoy the company of humans. Most of the time.

Artist Unknown

Most important of all,  I write  every single day.

The math is simple- when I write I like myself. When I don’t write  I find I am just existing  from day to day- when I eat at my kitchen window and ignore the big bad I don’t like myself.

So I write and I create and I look forward to doing it the tomorrow and the day after tomorrow and the next day –

So there is my day to day self care plan- maybe some of it will help you out or maybe some it will just make you smile. Either way. I think that is okay.
