Today’s Waiting For Godot Advent-ure calls to you to go out and become a Cemetery Explorer.
I’ve done that off and on over the years and I’m thinking that I would like to take my exploration more seriously. I am hoping that in the upcoming new year my trips will become more organized- not that spontaneous trips are bad- they’re a lot of fun. The down side is that the material and notes I’ve gathered are scattered around in draft on two different blogs and my photos are in three different storage sites.
Included here are some pictures from various cemeteries that I’ve visited- all except for one is out of the State and a couple aren’t cemetery pictures at all, but the residents were on tour so I figure they’d count
Please take your time in looking at the photos- as I went through them I realized there was much more going on then I realized when I took them.

I love old cemeteries. We used to love exploring, but haven’t in many years. I recognized St. Louis. The saddest thing I saw in an old cemetery was a family plot with parent and 9 children, who all died in the same week, probably from some disease. I also saw a cemetery in Australia where most of the graves were of young men (it was a logging town) and one grave had the grave of the man’s dog at the foot of it–the dog had slept on his master’s grave every day for years until he finally died. The town fed him. Brought me to tears.

There’s a family buried in a local cemetery who all died on the same day- back in the 1920’s.
They perished in a house fire.
Wow! These photos are just fabulous! What a wonderful project to be starting out on. I have only recently become a cemetery explorer and I am now passionate about old historic cemeteries. I am really excited by your plan.
