WP Prompters want to know: Dogs or Cats?

Today is my Dog’s birthday.

Hamish Macbeth is turning 9 years old and in those nine years

he has made a lot of dog friends and in addition to that

when he was a pup and a young dog, he was raised by three cats who

had raised by my Mastiff/  Retriever  – the sweetest girl ever named Cerberus.

In my heart I know Cerbie is looking over

the Grandpup she never got the chance to meet and raise and I know how lucky he is

to have an Angel like that looking over him.

So today I don’t want to plant a flag and declare if I am a cat or dog person.

I just want to say that I have been blessed to have had both of these wonderful animals in my life.

Happy Birthday to  the best boy in the world.

Time Killers

Inspired by the WP Prompt: Which activities make you lose track of time?

Artist Unknown

Watching storms rolling in from the Sea and down from Mountain tops

covered with black leafless trees and fog.

Sitting in front of  a cold fire place next to three

dogs with warm red and orange eyes and six cats with soft paws and sharp white teeth.

Listening to songs being sung  slightly off key by a pale singer accompanying itself

with a perfectly

tuned guitar

and turning over in my mind those cemetery gates that  swing open,

all on their own

every time I drift by.

I Know You

RDP Tuesday: Forte

I am not scared of monsters

or things that go bump or scream in the night

I wasn’t blessed with an over abundance of bravery

or fast and sturdy legs.

I think that what I am good at

and it has always served me well

is embracing the things that make me afraid

and giving them a name.
