By the time Joan Jett released her album- and spectacular song ” Bad Reputation ” I was in Highschool.
I had already been a Joan Jett/Runaways fan since Junior High and a guitarist for about 6 years.
The thing is, in the 80’s I was living in the suburbs and girls my age wore pastel makeup and clothes , they poof big hair ( even if it was short ) and like our Mothers before us we were desperate to be, smiley and happy.
I was not like the girls in my highschool, I was not like the girls in my neighborhood.
I was just me.
I loved this album cover because sure, Joan was in black but really she wasn’t going for glamor she wasn’t wrapped around some guys legs. She wasn’t showing off her boobs.
She was just Joan and her guitar and the promise she made on this cover was what your heard when you played the album.
