Along with pictures of dogs and cats on adoption day, I spend a lot of time haunting Halloween pages on facebook.
Do you know why I stopped?
You know how in every neighborhood somebody handed out toothbrushes or bookmarks with bible verses on them and when those treats hit your lootbag you had to smile, be respectful and not egg their house or TP their trees because your reputation proceeded you and people who handed out toothbrushes and bible bookmarks had no sense of humor and FOR SURE they were going to show up at your door the next morning to tell your parents you belonged in reform school.
The Facebook version of that are people who are saying no Gub’mint official is going to cancel Halloween and they will be opening their doors to anyone who knocks and they will be giving out candy no matter what some politician says, by jingo!
I don’t know about your neighborhood, but in mine Halloween is scaled back. There are no big parties or haunted houses. But people are finding ways to celebrate and I’ll be leaving little treat bags at my door on a table so if any trick or treaters come by they can have a little treat and I hope I’ll see dressed up Trick or Treaters next year.
My point is, a lot of people are trying to find ways to have fun over the Halloween weekend- why oh why would you throw a wet blanket on that and spoil their fun and start ranting about FREEDOMS!
I’m going to carve pumpkins, write, maybe I’ll dress my dog up and take a bunch of pictures and of course I’ll watch the classic versions of Dracula ( Lugosi ), The Wolfman ( Chaney ), The Mummy (Karloff ) and The Invisible Man ( Rains )
I am going to be celebrating Halloween this year, but it will be a challenge. There is no script to follow, no map to google, it’s uncharted territory.
It’s going to be like getting lost and ending up in front of a weird house on a rainy night- what oh what do you do?
Seriously- if you are really into the adventure of Halloween, what the heck- figure it out, have fun
and stay safe.
