Let Me Count The Ways

When I brought Hamish home, he was about 12 weeks old, he was a serious puppy but as the months went on and I came out of my depression ( probably had a lot to do with Hamish ) his personality just went super Nova.

He LOVED meeting new dogs and cats, he loved to meet and greet  people on our walks, at the dog parks and at family gatherings.

He loves the 4th of July-fireworks and all because he gets a lot of attention and snacks…oh so many snacks. No matter how loud and how sudden the explosions go off around us- he is totally nonplussed. On the other hand his Mom and Dad  ( the canine ones ) were champion  award winning hunting dogs so he may have just been wired for that.

Oh. And he loves his trip to the vets because there are people to meet, dogs and cats and he gets treats. Some people have to carry or pull their dogs into the Vets office, Hamish runs in and sometimes he won’t leave and I have to ease him out.

And there was the time he hurt his paw and he had to wear the Cone of Shame and he liked it. When he sees it in the closet, he won’t walk away until I put it on him.

Hamish is 12 years old now and he may have frost on his muzzle and paws, but none on his heart and soul.

I don’t know how he got to be this outgoing creature that loves the world without reservation, but I am glad he’s in my life. I think he makes me a better person every single day.
