Dust To Dust

Summerween Prompt: ASHES

I think it’s admirable that people restore gravestones and mausoleums.

Each stone, each slab of granite marble and brick have a story to tell and preserving those stories is a form of immortality. There’s comfort in knowing that our story doesn’t disappear long after we’ve passed on.

But one day the wood that houses our bones, the stones that say we were here will fall to dust too and I think that’s okay.

The Dinner Guests

I devour, I savour

foggy nights, shrimp scampi, Mcdonald’s french fries and good books.

I savour good jokes, the scent of freshly carved Halloween pumpkins and artwork that triggers something in my brain and I start to hear music.

I savour winter storms, lightening storms and the roar of the Ocean when the water begins to bubble and churn because something is happening out there or under there that we can’t see until it’s too late.

Above all I savour conversations that  wake my muses from their quiet and dreamless sleep and we dine together

by darkness.

RDP Wednesday: SAVOUR

That One Time

WP Prompt: If you could erase one event from history, what would it be?

If I could erase one moment from history, and I’ll stick with my own –  I’d erase the very first time I said ” I’m sorry ” for what I said or did, not because I was wrong but I wanted to make the other person feel better.

That moment taught me to knuckle under for anyone who may have been upset because I was right and they were wrong.

You May Kiss Your Bride

When the minister told Fabian Calderon that he could now kiss his bride,

he softly lifted the veil from her face, he set it gently along the top of her head and along her shoulders and when he leaned forward for his kiss,

she bared her teeth, she took him by his neck

and she kissed him once and  then chewed at his face and neck until his head popped off of his shoulders.

His headless corpse fell at  her feet and holding his head by the hair on top of his head she promised to love him

until death parted them…which happened at exactly 3:oopm on April 4th.
