Initialy thought it was the post for a clothes line- my Great-Grandmother’s posts were collapsible. , but sometimes one would get left up. Anway those posts were taller because she hung sheets and blankets from them.
On the other hand, the macabre person in my head is chuckling so it could mean something more colorful and less practical then I thought
