Inspired by The Soul Food Cafe Prompt
Over this week I have been taking pictures of and thinking about doors.
You might think that’s not very profound. That it’s sort of silly and not a good use of one’s time or creative energy- but to know me is to love me and that’s the sort of thing I do a lot of.
Anyway.
All of these doors are doors I by walk through or pass by every single day.
These doors are not in exotic places and they haven’t seen great things or been witness to world shaping events. Or maybe they have and they’re not saying.
At least.
I don’t think so.
Some doors say, ” Hey baby, how’s it going? Come on in… it’s ok”
How could you not say ‘yes’ to this door?
Look at those neat shoes that the lady is wearing…but have a care, she protects her door with a metal gate. A very efficient and formidable one.
Some doors are friendly, inviting and they say, “Welcome, glad you’re here.”
Other doors just scream.
I think that there are doors that only pretend to be forgotten, dead, ” Nothing going here just keep on walking by.” So they seem to say.
But look at all those signs of life around this door. What kind of life ( or would it be life ) is on the other side.
I think this door has fangs. I think that whoever is on the other side of that door is sitting in the dark and that it is hungry.
This door is in an alley, it’s huddled against a brick wall .
People walk just feet away from it everyday and don’t even notice or care that it’s there.
It’s been left haggard, damaged by rough use, carelessly repaired, .
This door isn’t just a door- it’s a mirror.
Look into it sometime.
Who or what do you think you’ll see?
