Everyday Inspiration
Day One: I write because …
Today, tell us: why do you write? Set a timer and free-write for 15 or 30 minutes without stopping. Begin your post with “I write because …” or start it any other way you wish.
I write because I can’t draw or paint, so I make pictures with words.
I can’t sing so I try to write poems and that way I can lift my voice up as high or as low and with much feeling as I can manage.
I write because the world is full of stories just waiting to be found and to be told. When I write, I feel like I just found treasure.
I write because I want to be heard and understood, I write because I want to listen and learn.
I write because I hope that after I’m gone, someone will find something I wrote and say, ” You know, I think I get her. She was sort of cool in a weird way.”
I write because I the world is full of adventure and mystery, horrible cruelty and sweet kindness and I want to do my part to save those little glimpses into our ‘once upon a time’.
I write because I have always been a storyteller.
