That Thing On My Head

RDP Sunday: FACE

Caspar David Friedrich

Let me tell you about my face.

From some of the members of immediate family to some of my friends,  they have all said the same thing about that thing on the front of my head.

” You could be pretty, if you tried. ”

Do you know what happens when you hear that enough?

Well in my case, you do things like avoid mirrors- I have one mirror in my home and it’s only here because unless you take then down builders put them in your bathroom.

If you wear makeup you have a hard time making your face ‘flow’ because you never focus on your face- you only focus on parts of it. My makeup doesn’t look awful, but it doesn’t look right either.

After awhile not  only is it hard to look at your own face, it’s hard to look at other people’s faces. In my case, I just find it uncomfortable.

Do you know that feeling you get when someone leans over and whispers into your ear “your zipper is down” or ” you have toilet paper stuck to your shoe” ? That’s how I feel when someone looks at my face.

And barring some horrific injury I’m stuck with it.

If I could change one thing, I wish I had horns like Black Phillip.

Nobody notices his face- and you do so at your own peril.
