Corner Of My Eye

SFC Adventure Calander Day One-PORTALS

Photographer Unknown

Is the portal that I am looking a scarred oak door with leather hinges  in a haunted house?

Is it a coffin lid, soft and eaten away with wood rot and mold shrouded in dust in a crypt made of rough stones and broken marble?

Is the portal a broken window? The attic stairs in my Nan’s empty house?  That dark corner, in my Aunt’s sewing room that smells like vanilla when it gets cold outside?

Is the portal I need to find, to make the words for my stories come alive  truly a door, or could  it be a candle in a dark window that a lonely lost soul like me can see from miles and years away?

Is the portal a door or is it a shadow that I think I see for moments at a time from the corner of my eye?

FOWC with Fandango: SEGMENT

I stayed away from the internet  and the news shows yesterday and for most of the days leading up to the Midterm Elections here in the States because Donald Trump and a segment of the population here make me want to hurl.

I know enough about campaigns to know that the minute the ballots drop, that there is nothing going on except GOTV efforts which are designed to do two things- hold your base because their ballots are in their hands and you need for them to check those boxes and get it returned , and to scrape up those Voters who, in my opinion  like to say that their undecided because they like the attention they’ll get.

It’s a weird sort of psychology- the only people who get more attention when they declare they are undecided after ballot drop are the candidates themselves.  The news cycle, social media are courting those undecideds and every time someone is talking in an ad ( which some people actually believer are informative ) they believe that a campaign is talking to them directly. They are. But it’s a waste of money.

Undecided know damn well who they will vote for and some of them never bother to vote at all. But they’re not going to tell you that.

Besides, I  watched Domestic Terrorists attack our Nation’s Capital on January 6th and the last thing I wanted to do was watch sitting Republicans open their mouths and say something other then, ” Yep. We tried to overthrow an election and we’re going to do it again if we have to ” because that’s their one and only plan. For Godsakes, tell the truth for once.

So yesterday in my state a Trumphumper tried to take out our Senator and fail. That one I cared about because Patty Murray actually does her job for the people of Washington state and if the seat she holds went to a Trumphumper  we would all be in trouble- even the Trumphumpers.

I guess now that the air has cleared a little I’ll blog, I’ll look at cat pictures and Winter paintings and I’ll hit the reset button in my brain.

Until the next time.

Little Windows

I’ve been listening to these holiday  Youtube clips on my laptop because the music is festive, but it’s also has that quiet vintage radio vibe so it doesn’t get in the way when I’m trying to concentrate. I chose the art work because they have snow in them and I think they’re relaxing.

I hope you enjoy the little windows I’ve posted today.
