The Long Walk

Quest

What are you in search of? Capture a quest with your camera.

What kind of Quest can one go on in the Suburbs ( in my case Mountlake Terrace, Washington ) What kind of inspiration can you find in a deliberate space?

Every weekend my dog  ( Hamish Macbeth ) and I go for power walks ( as opposed to our 45 minutes weekday walks, these walks are a couple of hours ) and I take a look at things I see all of the time- and then I really look at those things- sometimes I toss up an imaginary grid on a tree or yard art and I go over it space by space and then I photograph it.

The upshot is, I always find something new in things I see around me everyday and I find that quite inspiring.

All of these pictures with the exception of one were taken today- September 25, 2016

The house where I see these is a very nice, traditional suburban house.

On the surface, these bones don’t fit in with it’s non-western theme- nothing about  it says Southwest decor or Cowboy decor.

I guess I could ask the residents why these – or I could just wonder about it- I prefer leaving it to my imagination.

Adventure on a trail:

Sometimes I let Hamish wander ahead of me and if he finds something interesting, I’ll snoop around a bit.

Today I saw some trees from a great angle  and  loved the pictures I got.

Like I said earlier- I’ve seen these trees a million times, but I’ve never seen them quite this way.

Both shots were spooky.

I’ll be using them in the future.

These little weeds are all over the place- but I’ve only noticed their color. I had no idea they were thorny and that they ate stuff that they take root on.

Next is a shot of a cool fence on a corner by the Elementary School I went to.

It’s a busy intersection and over the years some jackass hops the curb and takes the fence out.

Destroyed ( again )

I was standing here and photographing the wrecked fence when I heard a car screech to a stop behind me in the intersection.

I was looking through the camera just then and thought what if that car had hit me and someone found this picture in my phone and realized that was the last thing I saw?

Part of me laughed.

The other part wanted to turn around and smack whoever was in that car.

So there it is, my quest for my weekly dose of inspiration.

You can go big or you can walk out your front door- but this weekend I learned with certainty- inspiration is right there, all you have to do is get out there and meet it.
