76 Days To Halloween

I was exploring a cemetery and came across this worn and impressive grave monument- it wasn’t small, I’ll give you that:

And then I checked out the inscription and saw that the date of death  listed as November 5th.

That’s my birthday and when I visit cemeteries I look for my birthday on the headstones

It’s macabre to do that,  but that is ok because there are 76 Days to Halloween and little things like this add a little chill to the air, don’t you think?

Under dark skies

along unmarked roads

passing through towns that died 

when no one was looking and nobody cared

I am trying to find a home

to rest my bones

and put my spirit to rest

maybe the sun is shining there,

but I doubt it.
