It Feels Like Rain

” It feels like rain today. ” I heard someone behind me say.

I was arranging the flowers at my Nan’s grave and as I worked I minded my graveyard manners and I didn’t turn around. I didn’t look up. I let the conversation behind me flow around me and passed me.

” Do you think so? I can’t feel a thing when the weather goes bad. I do get little twinges in my hands before it snows. ”

I stood up, I gathered up some scraps of faded ribbon and dusted my knees off.

I kept my eyes down and when I turned around I saw that I was alone.

” I’m telling you, ” I heard a muffled voice coming from my left , from below my feet. ” It’s going to rain. I can feel it in my bones. “
